The Health and Safety Executive (HSE)’s website is offering a free download of their leaflet entitled ‘Managing Asbestos in Building’ aimed at people who own, manage or have responsibilities for buildings which may contain asbestos. This includes all non-domestic buildings, whatever the type of business, and the common areas of domestic buildings, e.g. halls, stairwells, lift shafts, roof spaces. The guidance does not apply to other domestic properties.

This leaflet has been revised to include changes to the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012. It combines two leaflets: ‘A short guide to managing asbestos in premises’ and ‘Manage buildings and you must manage asbestos’. This Survey will identify any asbestos in your building and present this to you in a technical report which adheres to the legislative guideline, making recommendations as to any removal, remedial work or labelling to be implemented. The report will advise as to the risk level associated with the asbestos containing material (ACM) and the necessary inspection cycle thus allowing you to create the legally required asbestos register.
